AICO today announced that Vadim Sokolov, PhD, has joined the company as Cofounder and Chief Technology Officer. In this role, Dr. Sokolov will lead the architectural design and development of AICO’s next-generation clinical operating system to transform the execution of clinical trials through ontology and agentic AI.
Dr. Sokolov is a well-recognized thought leader in AI, data science, and complex-systems optimization. He has published extensively in these fields and co-authored the forthcoming Chapman & Hall book Bayes, AI and Deep Learning: Foundations of Data Science.
Dr. Sokolov brings two decades of research and engineering experience spanning mathematics, AI, statistical modeling, and complex systems, with a track record of translating advanced methods into reliable software. His career includes roles as Principal Computational Scientist at Argonne National Laboratory, Visiting Professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and Associate Professor at George Mason University. He has led the creation of research software now used by government agencies and engineering consultancies to drive data-driven decision-making in high-stakes environments. His expertise in building digital twins and high-impact software systems is uniquely suited to AICO’s mission of AI-first clinical operations.
“Vadim brings deep theoretical rigor and a builder’s mindset,” said Xiaomin Chen, MBA, Cofounder of AICO. “His expertise in ontology-driven AI and complex-systems optimization is fundamental to AICO’s vision of clinical trials run end-to-end by an intelligent, auditable system that learns, reasons, and acts, rather than merely being accelerated by isolated AI tools.”
As CTO, Dr. Sokolov will guide AICO’s technical strategy, focusing on scalable architecture, ontology governance, and rigorous engineering practices to ensure the system is dependable, transparent, and regulator-ready for real-world clinical operations.
